Welcome to the Staycation information page:
Each year, GALS hosts two Staycation weekends, which are intensive rehearsal retreats designed to deepen our musical practice and foster a strong sense of ensemble.
These weekends are scheduled once per concert cycle and typically span a Friday evening and a full Saturday. They are intentionally structured to provide the equivalent of 5–6 regular rehearsals, offering a concentrated opportunity to refine repertoire, strengthen vocal technique, and build cohesion across all sections of the choir.
Beyond the significant musical progress achieved, Staycation weekends also serve as an essential space for learning together in a more immersive and collaborative environment. Members benefit not only from focused practice but also from real-time feedback, sectional work, and collective interpretation of the music—all of which contribute to a higher level of performance readiness.
Moreover, these weekends reinforce the social and community aspects of GALS, allowing singers to connect more deeply with one another and with the music we are preparing. As a result, Staycations are a cornerstone of our concert preparation process and a valued tradition within the GALS calendar.
The details for the next Staycation will be posted here in 2026, which will likely be held sometime in May 2026
